5 Unique and Gorgeous Elopement Destinations From Around the Globe

You and your partner have decided to say your "I do's" as just a pair of two, and elope. If you're looking to take a trip and plan a getaway elopement ceremony, the next step is to select your destination. There are so many locations for you to pick from, but if you're looking to take a trip somewhere that isn't where everyone else is going or you're just looking to elope somewhere you and your partner have never been before, we've got you covered. Here are 5 unique elopement locations that are not only beautiful, but are wonderful and interesting in their own way. From a stunning California Coastline area, to a paradise lovers getaway, these are our top picks for elopement destinations unlike anything else.

This coastal destination is an underrated part of the California landscape. Breathtaking views of the ocean from seaside cliffs, lush redwood forests and mystical foggy views are what dreams are made of here. Drive up Highway 1 with the top rolled down, wind in your hair, without a care in the world. It's a perfect destination for outdoor enthusiasts and those who love the ocean, but don't want to be in Southern California. There are plenty of state parks for hiking, and views of the Santa Lucia Mountains will make you feel like you're in another world. As you make your drive up the coast, stop in Monterey, or Carmel by the Sea for a quick visit to these cute little towns and take in all they have to offer. This area of California tends to be quieter than areas like Joshua Tree or Palm Springs, giving you a more relaxing and serene elopement. Sounds like a dream come true to us.

Stunning mountain views and understated luxury can be found in this resort mountain town, located about two hours west of Denver. For those that love the outdoors, there's plenty of options in hiking or skiing, and if you're looking to just relax, hang out in the downtown village or unwind at one of the spas. The village has tons of fantastic bars and restaurants, and depending on the time of year there's almost always certainly something happening whether it's an outdoor concert or festival. Something interesting to note: Colorado State law recognizes self solemnization , meaning you don't need an officiant present to acknowledge your union- all you and your partner have to do is walk into a county clerks office with your ID's, and fill out your marriage license. If you and your partner are truly looking for a private, intimate elopement, this is a great option.

If you're looking to stay in North America while simultaneously feeling like you're millions of miles from home, this is the spot. Fly into mainland Vancouver and take a relatively short ferry ride (anywhere from 90 minutes to 2 hours) and you'll find yourself on this secluded Canadian island. There's a good chance you might even see whales on your journey! If you and your partner love the outdoors, there's no shortage of activities, from hiking to surfing. Vancouver Island is also great for a just taking a drive, stopping to visit historic Victoria, or even making your way to the other side of the island to spend a little time in Tofino, a relaxed and quiet town that is both serene and stunning. You'll love all of natural beauty this part of Canada has to show you.

This is easily the most unique and adventurous spots on our list, but for good reason. A truly once in a lifetime experience, this region of Northern Finland is something to behold. This destination is the perfect winter elopement location. Why you might ask? To be able to see the Northern Lights and the midnight sun, the natural phenomena where the sun is still visible at midnight! For those that love colder weather and want to feel like they're practically at The North Pole, The Laplands are for you. There are several luxury hotels in the area, including interesting places like an igloo hotel and an arctic treehouse. Dress warmly though, as temperatures can dip quite heavily, well into the negatives, and snow is plentiful. If you're not afraid of the cold, you can snowshoe or cross country ski, and reindeer are often spotted in the area. Being in such a remote but beautiful place will no doubt give you and your partner an elopement you'll always remember.

Wanderlust travelers, this one's for you. Beaches, waterfalls, scenic views of rolling hills, and a country rich in culture are everything a travel lover fantasizes about. It's truly one of the most beautiful places in the entire world, and you'll feel like you're actually in paradise. You and your partner can also spend time locally, checking out the street markets or visiting one of their many religious temples, soaking in the country's interesting culture. Indonesia is also a relatively inexpensive country, so don't be afraid to spend a bit more on lodging- it's absolutely worth it. There are a few items that should be taken into consideration if you're planning on marrying in Bali and you can find all of that information HERE . Even though for most it's truly a world away, it is hands down worth the travel to experience all this part of the world has to offer.
